All your questions answered…

what?

What exactly is a private lesson?

Chelzart believes it is essential for individuals, to be able to learn, dabble, play, and create without a financial agenda or deadline, simply for curiosity’s or pleasure’s sake! To explore and experiment! To take risks and to find comfort with doubt! Making art is both powerful and empowering. It’s a creative problem-solving activity with the added incentive of creating a thing of beauty or sharing ideas through images. Art is a form of therapy in the sense.

why?

Why would I want to take a private lesson?

Through Chelzart’s private lessons, I wanna do more than just  teach-to-the-test by receiving a grade. I think we get enough of that in life, and to me, that’s not what the practice and exploration of art is about!  Everyone is different and therefore everyone’s creative expression is different and valid. Chelzart teaches one-on-one because I want to be able to flex the activity to the needs of the student. I believe art class should be more about “process,” and less about “product and I feel it’s my goal to provide a positive, free-spirit atmosphere for a successful creative experience.

how?

How can I take art lessons if I’m not an “artist”?

You must first believe in yourself!  In the topic of creativity, we are convinced since we never spent any time going to art school, and we haven’t painted since elementary school, or ever… that we must not be creative, right? This is simply not true, and it is my mission to prove this to you. At the end of the day just have fun with your creativity and, not worrying about achieving perfection. You might just amaze yourself.

where?

Where are private lessons held?

I typically teach at my student’s homes in the Southern California/ Inland Empire area. We’ll need a quiet location with good lighting, a sturdy table with adequate work space, and access to a sink. Or if you would prefer to go out to your favorite cafe or enjoy some nature at a park, we can make that work too!

who?

Who are the private lessons for?

Like any skill, art-making can be learned and enjoyed by everyone, not just by children and professional artists. Children younger than 8 years old, might have some difficulty, but we can create lessons suitable to their needs.  Ages 9 to 17 are usually quite comfortable with all the complexity of the adult exercises, and often times they are eager to improve their drawing/painting skills!

For the adults who are looking for a night out with some friends, for a more party experience come paint with me at The Paint Sesh!

when?

When are private lessons scheduled?

Class length depends on the individual and the budget, otherwise classes are either 1 or 2 hours long depending what you would prefer. We can have a lesson once a week or once every week. Customized lessons can be set up based on your own availability and I will do my best to work with your schedule. I understand that life, time, interests and budgets change.

"Chelz is an amazing instructor and person - she is enthusiastic, helpful, patient, down-to-earth, talented, welcoming, and very encouraging. Even if someone was not giving Chelz his/her 100% attention, Chelz remained kind and did not show any feelings of resentment or irritation, which other PaintNite instructors have displayed. This aspect is essential in creating a comfortable environment for participants to grow their love for painting and improve their skill. She's so hardworking, too - she briefly mentioned how today was her 3rd consecutive PaintNite instruction day. Her energy levels did not display this at all - she was energetic throughout the event."
